The Outsider: Volume 1 Issue 1. New Orleans: Loujon Press, 1961. LouJon Press was started in 1961 by Jon Edgar Webb and Gypsy Lou Webb and their publication The Outsider was responsible for bringing Charles Bukowski to national attention. LouJon would then go on to publish Bukowski's first two major publications. This, the first issue, was painstakingly printed by hand on an archaic hand-press in the Webb's French Quarter apartment. It also features a host of contemporary luminaries such as Henry Miller, Allen Ginsberg, William S. Burroughs, Langston Hughes, Gregory Corso, etc. Pretty sweet stuff. Very good in original wrappers, showing light overall shelfwear and the previous owner's name to the tissue paper behind the cover, along with light foxing to verso of wraps.
