House of Leaves, Mark Z. Danielewski
First UK edition, first printing of Danielewski's "demonically brilliant book." This being one of 120 "standard copies" from a total edition of 200, the other 80 being variants. Note that the whole colophon is full of misinformation: the first editions all state "2nd edition", with the fictional "privately distributed" edition that the "editors" of the Foreword allude to being the (fictional) "first edition." The publishing history of this masterpiece nearly as difficult to pin down as the text itself.
London: Anchor, 2000. Publisher's black boards, stamped in gilt, black endpapers; pp. xxvi, 709. A near fine copy in a very good or better, unclipped dust jacket. Binding remains sturdy and square, corners lightly bumped, internally clean and fine. Jacket shows light general shelfwear and the slightest trace of fading to back panel, protected in archival mylar. Scarce.
